In the summer of 2016 I was invited to experiment with Future Expansion and Chuck Laven on site analysis techniques using a Phantom 4 drone. We conducted preliminary analysis on three recently purchased properties for the construction of two new homes and a sauna. The drone helped evaluate potential views at different elevations and provide a variety of positioning information to evaluate the relationship between built form and landscape. The footage was used for design decision making as well as narrative mapping content to convey the overarching goals of each project.
